AHAHAHAHA.
I didn't know the slow loading was a driver issue!!!
After using dubious tactics to justify upgrading my video card from an x1800xt to a 5770, I used bad company 2 to justify a new CPU and RAM (and accompanying main board) to the girlfriend.

I fucking HATE BF:BC2.

I spent $50 last night, ON A GAME THAT DOESN'T FUCKING WORK.   There is NOTHING wrong with my PC.  I'm putting this post here, because I'm starting to think that my x1800 is the culprit.  Semi, could you run the game at all with your x1800?   I hate ATI with a passion, but the card was a free hand-me-down from a friend to replace my 8400 GS.  I'm thinking that the fact that FUCKING ATI doesn't support the card with their latest drivers (nothing above Catalyst 10.2) is my problem.

My game just crashes to the desktop every time it it's about to actually get into the game.  In single player it crashes right at the end of the cut screens, actually right before it shows what I believe to be the last bit of text.  In multiplayer it crashes right as it's about finished connecting to the server.

I'm going to put my 8400 back in and load up the latest NVIDIA drivers and see if that makes a difference.  If it works, expect an even angrier anti-ATI post following this...
