59.99 new. The $5 put down for preorder counted towards the overall game.
Now here in Nova Scotia we also have 15% sales tax so....yeah.

In case anyone missed the news:

Incoming: Battlefield 3 update!

"The DICE team are hard at work supporting Battlefield 3. To date, we have implemented several server updates to improve stability and performance. Next week we are publishing a significant Battlefield 3 client update for the PC. Console patches take a bit longer due to the certification requirements for console content, but it will follow shortly after the PC update.

So what’s in the PC patch? You’ll see improved polish, stability, weapons balancing, squad control functionality, user interface enhancements, and several feature enhancements that address feedback the community has provided to date  – plus we’re removing the so called “negative mouse acceleration” that some of you have experienced.

Regarding cheating and boosting, we continue to analyze data to identify and hold accountable (ban, wipe stats) players that cheat or boost. We’ve received questions about what to do when faced with unsportsmanlike conduct in Battlefield 3 – the best course of action is to click the warning sign next to their profile name in Battlelog, or head to the EA Help Desk and report your issue. These leads will enable us to follow up on the report.

We appreciate all the feedback. Keep it coming to help us with future improvements. Check back next week to confirm the patch launch date and the detailed fix list. Thanks for playing and sharing your feedback with us!"

Fingers crossed.....

From what 'Flayer was saying, isn't an increase in range and damage for small caliber weaponry the exact opposite of what was needed?

I'm not a computer guru like some of ya'll, but it appears that my video card is not supported. I took a look at all that before buying, and my computer specs show a GeForce 9400M G. According to min specs that should be ok. Anyway, when I try to run the game, I get an error message saying I need to update the video drivers. I tried that, but the nvidia site states that I have a different card alltogether and it doesn't meet the min specs.
I took a look at the hardware and it seems I have two video cards; the afore mentioned 9400M G and GTX 260M. The 260M doesn't come anywhere near min specs. So... I have no idea what to do now, other than see if I can maybe have a better video card installed in my laptop, or purchase another computer.

Unless ya'll have some ideas?

I THINK  (as in could be wrong) that your laptop has one of those hybrid cards that switched from the more powerful GT260 to a 9400 when in a low power mode. Were you plugged into the wall? Want to maybe try fiddling around with your power settings and make sure your laptop is giving it her all when plugged in?

*Edit* There are also drivers specific to BF3. Maybe those would help? (I play on 360 so have avoided these problems. The smaller games seem to work to my advantage.

Semi might be onto your issue, power related.  As far as BF3 specific drivers, I haven't seen any from NVIDIA just some ATI Crossfire specific profiles.  Unfortunately, when it comes to mobile chips you have to get the drivers from the laptop manufacturer, NVIDIA does NOT support them in their universal drivers.  This is a HUGE headache as the manufacturers do not support them for long.  Fortunately most laptops are actually made by 3rd parties and rebranded by the major guys (HP, Dell, Alienware, etc) so you might have some luck looking up the hidden model number and finding a matching unit from another manufacturer and getting drivers from them.

This is the major reason I've strayed away from laptops for gaming.  Video drivers are a huge problem. I doubt you can upgrade the video "card" in your laptop, even the "upgradable" ones are very limited usually only letting you go forward a generation before they change the "standard" or just drop support all together.  Most are not upgradable at all unfortunately.  If you provide some detail on your laptop model and such we might be able to help some more.  Because of the lack of major driver support, there are a few groups that host and repackage drivers for mobile chips.  I may be able to point you to one of them....  There are also ways to force the universal drivers to run the mobile chips...it's not exactly straightforward and I can't stress a personal disclaimer enough.

As far as min requirements, if the drivers are somewhat up to date the game should run just not very well.

As a future note, if you are in a position where you can purchase another computer.  I would recommend that, as you can build a pretty bad-ass budget rig that will last you a few years easily and offer a lot of upgradability for somewhere between $800 and $1200 these days.  In fact, Mindflayer and I could probably put our heads together and come up with something even cheaper that would do the job decently.

New Patch in 2 days

Includes fixes for Tactical Light, Mortar, USAS, etc...we'll see how effective it is considering how minor alot of the tweaks are.  For example, they simply changed the effective range on the tac light when outdoors....which wont do much probably since people are using it to charge and blind opponents...etc
